Applegate House Heritage Arts & Education (AHHAe) is a non-profit organization that was formed in December 2000 to serve people of all ages in Northern Douglas County and surrounding areas. Located in the unique setting of the 1852 Applegate House in Yoncalla, including one hundred acres of woods, fields and wetlands, we use its rich history as a focal point for exploring both the early pioneer era and the culture and traditions of the local Kalapuya and Western Oregon Indian tribes. Throughout the year we hold a variety of events, including our day camp for children each summer and an after-school program in the fall, periodic workshops in heritage arts and historical topics for adults, and educational fundraisers like 2007's Music Heritage Festival and Native American Salmon Bake with drumming and storytelling, 2008's Apple Day, and 2009's Apple Eve. At our public events we open the house for tours. |
